Traditional Asian Music Classes

  • Objective: Launch a series of traditional Asian music classes and musical instruments (e.g., harmonium, violin, flute, rubab, sitar, taiko, tabla) to preserve cultural heritage and promote cross-cultural understanding.

  • Rationale: Music is a universal language that bridges cultural divides, reduces prejudice, and fosters community pride. Classes will engage diverse participants, including Asian American youth and non-Asian community members, to combat hate and promote unity.

  • Details:

    • Offer 10 weekly classes (2 beginner, 2 intermediate) for 40 weeks, serving 100 students annually.

    • Focus on instruments like violin, erhu, sitar, taiko, and guzheng.

    • Classes will be led by professional instructors with cultural expertise.

    • Free or low-cost access to ensure inclusivity, targeting underserved communities.
